A New Unity

You didn't care where I was from or where I said I'd been
You said the fact of the matter is that everybody's sinned
No soul's ever built on truth - our foundation's deceit
The single glimmer of time we receive is just enough to underachieve
We all want to grow
But we never want to be alone
When the pieces don't fit
Built it brick by brick
(Take your time)
Side by side, watch the time slowly slide
(Your sweet time)
Side by side, sunlight dies and you thrive
With miles to go before I sleep
I see an endless road in front of me
I said, "my body [felt] so weak"
You promised that it was the road to my peak
The times that used to seem so bleak
Now it's endless possibility
A new unity

Fire Red

I pictured us here to stay
Not even thinking that this life could go away
Once bright like sunlight through a glass of rosé
Now dark as the night when the sun went away
Bringing it back (x3) to all the times that we had
That daylight died, I never thought I'd say
"Goodbye to the times where all was OK"
Now swept by a wave of endless pain
You'll find a new realm, you're not meant to stray
You're classic as a pair of 1's, as loved as a 4
You're Fire Red forever, like the shoes that you wore
You would say, "just do it", not an ear in sight would bore
You're timeless like the saying, "more air"
Now soar

Emerald Eyes

Goodbye emerald eyes
I'll miss the times - bittersweet goodbye
Some things better left unsaid
In that moment, I felt better off dead
Goodbye highway nights
Time didn't move - only passing lights
Some things better left unsaid
In the end we both saw red
(I need some more)
Peace in my mind
(I need some more)
Truth in my life
Time holds so much strength
Time can change all things
We're not the kids we were yesterday
Tomorrow not the kids we are today
Growth doesn't have to mean division
Growth doesn't have to mean goodbye
In the dark, I was blind - no vision
Like the youth, realizing religion
..and we can't go back if that's how you react
Looking to the past
Living through flashbacks
Time travelling - speed walking
Looking back at all the talking
You'd shape me, you'd break me
I had no option - I'm sorry

For You, the World
02:35
|

You're the last of a dying star - golden like the bleach in your hair
You stay shining like the dawn, no matter how you fall
Your knowledge, patience, and heart - unrivaled to the end
You teach me like priceless art - knowledge that I intend to defend
I spent all my years hunting for momentary bliss
The clocks stopped time when I first felt your cherry kiss
Now I don't rewind, don't flashback to a time
Where everything was fine
I'm living in the prime
Everything's just fine
Tattoo your name on my sleeve:
A memory to remind me what's to be loved, what's to be cherished - not taken for granted, not forgotten in the moment
I can't forget - I won't forget
The brightest stars burn by my side
Love your love, I can't deny it
Lose your love and I'll be crying
I have what I need, I hope you have the same
Half of what you give me would make a rich man faint
If I should fail, if I should fall from grace
Win or lose, I'll call for your embrace

A Little Life

I finally understand that when you came back around, and couldn't find the words to say - it's better it turned out this way
I was so content
You weren't living with second best
I didn't want to grow, but you forced me to by being alone
Fear and loathing is what I spent all my energy on for that I regret (and I repent)
You told me what I didn't want to hear - you gave it to me straight
But, I made it slide out my ears - refused to change my fate
..and reading over my notebooks now, it blows my mind just why and how
I couldn't open my eyes
How the fuck did I refuse to change?
For the best
Don't let me forget
So young, so irresponsible
Refused to learn, refused to grow, and it showed
If you know what I know now, by chance somehow
You'll realize you changed the tides
You saved my life
